An Outtake

Sometimes, the really excellent scenes from your life don’t get enough exposure.  This happens to me mainly because these moments are just memorable snippets from a larger story.  They don’t really stand on their own.  So here’s an outtake from my stories about the James River Writers Conference I attended on October 20th and 21st.

I was listening to author Tom Robbins speak during a fancy catered luncheon.  When the interviewer Dean King asked Robbins for his thoughts on living in Richmond, Robbins paused for a second to think.  He then said, in a deliberate drawl, “If charm were a bathtub, Richmond could float a hundred rubber duckies and still have room for the royal navy.”
